Oil suffers from electrical and mechanical stresses while a transformer is in operation. In addition there are contaminations caused due to chemical interactions with windings and other solid insulations, catalyzed by high operating temperature. As a result the original chemical properties of Transformer Oil changes gradually, rendering it ineffective for its intended purpose after many years. Hence this oil has to be periodically tested to ascertain its basic electrical properties, and make sure it is suitable for further use or necessary actions like filtration/regeneration has to be done.

Transformer Oil Testing Laboratory (TOTL)
PE-TOTL is India’s leading private laboratory for Transformer Oil testing. It is located in the same premises as the HQ office, and this allows for constant supervision and monitoring of test methods and testing procedures, and constant upgradation to higher standards of testing. The NABL accreditation for this test laboratory is the icing on the cake, and allows us to certify our test results with authority that very few laboratories across India can match. The testing is usually done as per IEC 17025:2000, but we have the capability to test as per the customer’s requirements for any other local standard also. Add the low turnaround time for sample testing, the precise and accurate results, and the record maintenance; the high demand from our customers is making us almost approach the end of spare capacity. The plan hence is to replicate the high standards of Oil testing and set up a couple more of regional laboratories across India and Mid-East.
